Transfer is ‘95% done’ but Liverpool get burned like Man Utd over top Jurgen Klopp target

Liverpool look likely to miss out on transfer target Karim Adeyemi with the talented German teenager reportedly on the verge of securing a move elsewhere.

The centre-forward, 19, is one of the hottest properties in European football right now. Indeed, Adeyemi already has 15 goals in just 22 appearances for the campaign.

That includes 11 in the Austrian Bundesliga, where Salzburg are top with a 12-point lead. He has also managed three goals in the Champions League. Salzburg look set to reach the next round too, after picking up seven points from their five matches.

Salzburg are currently second in their group, with Sevilla a point behind and Wolfsburg, in fourth, just a point further back.

However, should they make the the knockout stages for the first time, they may have to do so without their star man.

Indeed, competition for the Germany international is understandably fierce. The likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have all been touted as potential destinations.

As such, Barcelona were reported to have contacted his agent to try and propose a move to the Nou Camp.

Barcelona also get Adeyemi snub

However, Sky Deutschland claims Adeyemi has snubbed overtures from Barca. Furthermore, despite knowing Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer, it seems a move to Anfield is also not in his thinking.

And his next move will perhaps not come as much of a surprise, given he’s repeating a familar path.

Indeed, as per Sky Deutschland, Adeyemi has given his word over a move to Borussia Dortmund.

They state he’s already said yes to the transfer and that it’s ‘already 95% complete’. As such, it seems Liverpool will get burned in the same way that Manchester United did in January 2020 over Erling Haaland.

The Norway striker made the same move from Salzburg to the Westfalenstadion and has not looked back.

And Adeyemi will hope to have similar success as Haaland with Black & Yellow. Indeed, the report states he sees a move to Bundesliga as the perfect chance to catch Hansi Flick’s eye ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

Karim Adeyemi likely to command a huge fee

Adeyemi’s contract at Salzburg runs until 2024 and will therefore command a significant fee for his services.

Indeed, reports last month said Dortmund are willing to pay £30m for his services. Furthermore, they are reportedly ready to put a deal worth £80,000 a week on the table.

But Salzburg president Harald Lurzer will try and convince Adeyemi to stay until the summer, however.

During an interview with Bayern Insider, Lurzer spoke openly on the striker’s future.

“We are aware that Karim will probably take the next step next summer. We don’t want to put any obstacles in the way,” he said.

However, it seems Adeyemi is intent on making the move with a deal soon set to be confirmed.
