Radrizzani sends timely reminder of Leeds ambitions after assessing direction
Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani insists Leeds United are heading in the right direction despite their difficult start to their second season back in the Premier League.
Leeds took the league by storm upon their long-awaited return last year, eventually finishing ninth. But it has been a tough beginning to 2021-22 for them, with no wins yet from their first four league games. Most recently, they lost 3-0 to Liverpool in a game in which they were comfortably outplayed.
Radrizzani spoke on camera to Sky Sports after the conclusion of the match and wanted to relay a reassuring message.
In fact, rather than express similar worries to the same ones Marcelo Bielsa has confessed to, the Italian businessman reiterated how high they are aiming in the long-term.
“The fans support all the time this team. We have a very special stadium. Next time we need to get more results,” he said.
“We have had a tough start. I’m still confident and positive we can start our season on Friday at Newcastle.
“We have plenty of time to go back to where we were last year. I think the club is going in the right direction to establishing itself in Premier League.
“The plan is to play in bigger stadiums on European nights. There is a lot of trust amongst ourselves.”

Radrizzani shares sympathy for Elliott
The main talking point from the game was the injury suffered by Liverpool talent Harvey Elliott, who had started the season strongly but will be out for a while now.
He came off badly from a challenge from Pascal Struijk, who was subsequently sent off. Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the attacking midfielder has suffered a dislocated ankle.
Echoing the reaction of Bielsa, Radrizzani said there was no malice in the challenge but sent his well wishes for Elliott’s recovery.
“I wish the boy well,” he said. “This is football. It’s accidental.
“Personally I feel sorry for the boy. The injury is difficult for him.
“We cannot control that kind of injury. It was accidental but I am honestly sorry for the player.”
