Pundits agree Liverpool move would unlock ‘unreal’ winger’s potential
Two former Premier League stars have backed Wolves winger Adama Traore to be a huge success if he opts to sign for Liverpool.
Traore, 25, has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in the past few months. Tottenham were also thought to be keen last summer while Barcelona have been mentioned in connection with the player. However it is the Reds link that will not go away as Jurgen Klopp looks to improve his already talented squad.
The Spain international has been with Wolves since 2018 when the West Midlanders paid Middlesbrough £18m for his services. He has been a regular for the Black Country outfit, making 114 Premier League appearances and scoring seven goals.
The former Aston Villa man has enjoyed 144 outings in all competitions and has been capped eight times by La Roja. Consistency has always been an issue and Traore has not quite hit the expected heights this term.
He has yet to find the net or register an assist from seven starts and 11 top-flight appearances. But that has not put Liverpool off, with reports Jurgen Klopp is a big fan and has a ‘plan’ for the Spaniard.
Former Tottenham star Darren Bent feels he is still a top player and would show his true class under Klopp.
“In that team he could be unstoppable,” he told talkSPORT. “His problem is consistency but in that Liverpool team, where they play with a high press and energy, it could be different.”
And former Arsenal and England ace Jack Wilshere agreed, adding: “He’d be unreal.”
Wolves ambitions to hasten Traore deal
Liverpool looked set to make a move last summer but reportedly baulked at his price tag. Wolves valued him at around £50m and the Merseysiders refused to play ball.
But they may now be able to land him for less. Wolves are hoping to sign RB Leipzig loanee He-Chan Hwang on a permanent basis and need to raise funds.

CalcioMercato are suggesting that Leipzig want £42million for the South Korea international forward. Bruno Lage is eager to land the Asian ace in January and that may prompt the exit of Traore in the new year.
Hwang has bagged four goals in nine Premier League appearances for the men in gold and black. He is a fans’ favourite after making such an impact in a short space of time.
