Move for hapless Aston Villa ace ‘almost certain’ as four teams queue up
Wesley Moraes is likely on the move once again in January, as Aston Villa have a number of clubs in Brazil lining up to take him on board, on loan.
Wesley has had a tough time over the past few seasons. The Brazilian suffered a gruesome season-ending injury while playing for Villa in 2020, just as he was coming into form.
The signings of strikers Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings, as well as the emergence of Cameron Archer, pushed Wesley down the pecking order when he returned from injury.
Those developments led to the striker being loaned back to his previous side, Club Brugge.
However, Wesley has been unlucky in terms of the game time since his return to Belgium. Indeed, he has played just 105 minutes for Brugge this season.
The lack of game time has obviously left Wesley feeling unhappy, and the striker now wants to leave Brugge.
There are, however, four teams in Brazil that want to bring Wesley in on loan, per The Boot Room.
Palmeiras emerged at the first side wanting to take Wesley to Brazil. Furthermore, they have been joined by Flamengo, Sao Paulo and Internacional.
A return to Brazil could certainly do Wesley some good. Indeed, he would be afforded the opportunity to return to form, and in his home country no less. As such, it is reported he will ‘almost certainly’ return to Brazil.
It seems Brugge have no problems in cutting Wesley’s loan short due to his fringe role in the side. As such, Villa should be more than happy to loan him out to a side in Brazil, and allow him to try to raise his profile while enjoying playing football once again.
Wesley among Villa strikers on the move
With Watkins, and to a lesser extent, Ings performing to the standard they have this season, it is obvious why Villa have not needed many striker options.
Indeed, that has left Keinan Davis without a key role in the squad since returning from injury.
“Keinan Davis hasn’t played a lot of football over the past few years and he needs to go out and play games. Gerrard will know that,” he said.
Indeed, a return to form at another club would do Davis the world of good. Nottingham Forest seems an intriguing opportunity for Davis, as the side are in top form in the Championship, and have registered an interest in the forward.
