Man Utd man expected to leave this summer being pursued by Prem club
Man Utd are expected to allow Amad Diallo to leave on loan this summer and a Premier League club have been enquiring about a move, a journalist has claimed.
Diallo joined the Red Devils at the start of the calendar year after a deal was agreed last October. The move for the 19-year-old cost United an up-front fee of £19m. However, this could be nearly doubled after add-ons.
The Ivory Coast international made his Premier League debut in May, starting in a 2-1 loss to Leicester City.
That was one of eight appearances in all competitions last season for the youngster. He netted his first United goal against AC Milan in the Europa League.
Despite being highly regarded by boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, that number is not likely to increase much this campaign.
That’s because United have significant depth in their attacking ranks. Amad, who operates primarily as a right-winger, is at the bottom of a hefty list of options.
Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, Daniel James, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford all feature higher up the pecking order as wide options.
Therefore, opportunities will be few and far between. A loan move would be extremely valuable to get minutes under his belt.
A recent report indicated this was likely to happen. And Fabrizio Romano has now reinforced this claim.
The Italian journalist tweeted a loan is anticipated. He added that Crystal Palace have been asking for the player along with FC Basel.
These are the only two clubs named by Romano. However, he claims there’s interest from Bundesliga clubs and other top-flight English sides too.
As it stands, the Old Trafford outfit are yet to have made a decision on which club will be Amad’s temporary home during 2021/22.
Amad’s teammate a Toffees target
Meanwhile, Everton have ‘approached’ United over the possibility of luring a star who feels he has more to give away from Old Trafford, per a trusted source.
Solskjaer’s men harbour genuine ambitions of lifting the Premier League title this season. This come after overseeing a superb transfer window thus far. Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane will slot straight into the starting 11 when up to speed. But if the pair are to be joined by further new faces, initial exits may first be required.
Multiple reports have detailed a lengthy list of first-teamers who could be sacrificed to generate funds this month.
And one player namechecked on several occasions in those reports has now been linked to Rafa Benitez’s Toffees.
