Man Utd double-handed, as Murtough contacts cheaper Sancho option
Manchester United have reportedly registered their interest in Kingsley Coman, despite lodging an offer for Jadon Sancho.
It appears that United football director John Murtough has employed a double-handed approach to recruiting a winger this summer. Sancho is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s number one target and has been ever since last summer.
United are reported to be closer than ever to signing Sancho, who is on international duty at Euro 2020 with England.
Fabrizio Romano suggests United are “working hard” on a deal for the 21-year-old.
The transfer expert claims: “All people involved in negotiations now confident, but cautious after what happened a year ago.”
United are understood to have agreed personal terms with Sancho, while all the agents’ fees have also been agreed. It leaves United and Murtough to agree a fee with Dortmund for the transfer to proceed.
United, per the BBC, have made a £67m offer for Sancho. That has been turned down by the Bundesliga side with Dortmund chasing closer to £77.5m, with an additional £4.25m bonus payment on top.
It means Murtough will have to pay around £80m for Sancho if they finally want to get their man. Dortmund are expected to stick to their valuation having lowered it from the £108m price tag on the player last summer.
(2/2) If Coman leaves the club this summer, another winger will definitely be signed. #MUFC already wanted to sign KC last summer & offered him €8m net/year. Salihamidzic said no. His price: more than €50m; Sancho (as reported via @berger_pj) around €95m. Poker is on. @SPORT1

The ball is back in the court of United, but it’s reported they have another option to Sancho. If Murtough is not willing to meet the financial demands of BVB, instead they will move for Coman.
Florian Plettenberg of Sport1 reports that United have officially registered their interest in the Bayern Munich winger.
Coman, 24, still has two years left to run on his Bayern contract. But talks over a new deal have stalled, prompting talk that Bayern would listen to offers for him.

Sancho says transfer talk is rife
Whether United see Coman as a serious alternative to Sancho or whether they are trying to pressure Dortmund, is unclear.
What is clear is that Coman is a far cheaper option with Bayern set to accept anything above €50m. United though are pushing hard to get a deal done for Sancho ahead of Euro 2020.
England’s first game is on Sunday against Croatia. The Sun report that United will announce the deal after the tournament.
And Sancho has admitted that talk is rife at St George’s Park over his future.
Sancho said : “Of course, all the boys have a lot of questions. When you do well, speculation is always going to come around.
“I just tell the boys, ‘look, I’m focused on football at the moment’ and we just focus on the Euros, step by step.”
