Liverpool ace open to Anfield exit as Champions League club makes approach
It has been a quiet summer transfer window for Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Anfield has dampened the mood at the cub but new manager Arne Slot would be hoping to change that soon.
The Reds have lost Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Adrian this summer but their replacements have not been signed yet.
It is looking highly unlikely that the Reds will make a big money signing this summer despite being linked with Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon.
The Merseyside club could lose another player this summer as Champions League club has made an approach to Liverpool.
According to Eindhovens Dagblad, Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg wants to leave and join PSV Eindhoven this summer.
The defender is looking for more playing time and since he would not be able to get that at Anfield, he wants a move away from the club and join the Dutch champions.
Sepp van den Berg is open to Liverpool exit for better playing opportunities.
The player has been impressive under Slot in the preseason but when the season starts, the manager will not be able to give him the playing time that he needs.
van den Berg has spent time away from Anfield on loan to Mainz and Schalke and he has developed well away from Liverpool.
However, with Slot having so many options at his disposal, the Dutch defender is sensible in wanting a move away from the club this summer.
Sepp van den Berg has no chance to start for Liverpool
He is far behind in the pecking order at the moment. Virgil Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Jarrel Quansah are all comfortably ahead of him.
The 22-year-old can have the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season at PSV and leaving Liverpool to move back to his home country would be the ideal scenario for him and his future.
The defender has shown in Liverpool’s preseason tour of the United States that he is ready to take the next step in his career after showing signs of improvement.
