Lacazette eyes ‘beautiful projects’, as he puts timeframe on Arsenal decision
Arsenal striker Alexander Lacazette has admitted he is looking at other options ahead of the January transfer window.
The French attacker is out of contract in June 2022 and his time at The Emirates looks to be coming to an end. Lacazette has started the last four Premier League games, three of which were victories. Mikel Arteta has opted to partner Lacazette with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Arsenal’s form has picked up.
But with the 30-year-old’s deal running down, Arsenal have a decision to make over the player’s future.
The Atheltic stated recently that the door was not yet closed on a possible extension. However, the Gunners are keen on getting a deal done, but only on their terms.
And with Lacazette turning 31 when the current campaign ends they are only thinking of a short-term deal. While the former Lyon star is chasing a longer deal with his career coming to an end.
Arsenal could opt to sell him for a small fee in January, extend his deal or lose him for free in the summer.
And now Lacazette has revealed his representatives are exploring his options ahead of making a decision in January.
“Of course, my agents are starting to look to the right and to the left,” Lacazette told Telefoot, via Metro.
Lacazette looking for ‘beautiful projects’
“But not until January, I really want to focus myself on something.
“And then we will see what is on offer, if the challenges are interesting, if there are beautiful projects, how they are counting on me… so there are still many questions. I prefer to wait until January to position myself.”
Addressing the media ahead of the Liverpool game last week, Arteta was asked about Lacazette’s situation. And he suggested the situation would not be addressed until the summer.
He said: “I don’t know there is so much stuff. What I can say is I’m really happy with what Laca is doing.
“We’re not going to be talking about any of that until the end of the season.”
That decision will not come soon enough for the former Lyon man, who says he will decide in January.

‘Communication’ key over Lacazette future
Arteta was also asked in his press conference this week and said “communication” was key.
“That’s a position that’s happening more and more in football,” Arteta said.
“He is not the only one, we have a few. That’s something we have to deal with, with contracts that they were coming from a few years ago, with certain particularities. We knew that was the case.
“I have already spoken with them individually about how we have to handle those situations the best possible way, and that’s it.
“‘It’s the situation that we have, whether you are concerned or not.
“Things have happened in the last few seasons for different players, where those possibilities are there. Sometimes the club has more control and sometimes the player has some more control.
“The important thing is that communication is clear, and the intentions of both parties, while they are together, are very clear.”
