Exciting Leeds duo adored by Bielsa tipped for 2022 breakthrough

An exciting young Leeds United duo have been tipped to make a big breakthrough next year as Marcelo Bielsa is a massive fan of both.

Bielsa has a very good grasp on the club’s academy which currently has two bright sparks emerging from it. Crysencio Summerville, 19, was the subject of significant interest this summer. The Whites supposedly turned down four different enquires for him.

The winger signed from Feyenoord last summer and was extremely impressive for the U23 side last season. That has earned him a place on the bench with the first team for the start of this season.

Another acquisition in 2020 was Sam Greenwood from Arsenal, who is also 19. Like Summerville, he was a menace for defences in the Premier League 2.

And he already has two goals in three games this campaign. Despite their youthfulness, they appear ready for the step up.

However, former Leeds player Danny Mills believes because of the senior talent Leeds currently have, they will have to wait until 2022 to emerge onto the scene.

Mills told Football Insider: “It’s going to be difficult to make a real impact if you look at what’s ahead of them in those positions.

“Dan James can play in the Rodrigo position as well. Or, you can shove Raphinha inside and have Dan James on the right-hand side.

“Harrison has that position on the left sewn up. Tyler Roberts in there in those positions as well.

“It’s quite congested in there already. Leeds are a Premier League side, it’s not easy to break into any Premier League side, no matter how good you are.

“They’ve just got to keep developing, be patient with one more season.

“As long as they are in and around it, as long as they are getting a little sniff of it, I’m sure they will be relatively happy.”

Bielsa has Dan James plan

Meanwhile, Bielsa has confirmed that Daniel James is likely to make his debut for the club against Liverpool on Sunday.

“The decision to bring in James was the correct one by the club,” Bielsa said (via Leeds Live).

“He will be available this weekend. He’s a player who can play on either side that combines his ability to unbalance the opponent and passages into empty spaces considering his speed.”

James could come in in a straight swap for Raphinha, who could be ineligible this weekend.
