Bayern Munich readying Xabi Alonso move; hoping to beat Liverpool to 42-year-old

Bayern Munich have reportedly made moves to recruit Xabi Alonso next season.

Following an amazing season which sees Bayer Leverkusen unbeaten and eight points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, Alonso, 42, has emerged as Europe’s most in-demand manager.

Not only have Bayern Munich recently confirmed Thomas Tuchel will be leaving his role, but last month also saw Liverpool announce Jurgen Klopp’s upcoming departure.

Both managers will leave their positions at the end of the season, and now the race to sign Alonso is hotting up.

Xabi Alonso is wanted by Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

And according to a recent report from HITC, the Bavarians are hopeful they can beat Liverpool and convince the 42-year-old boss to join them at the end of the campaign.

Obviously, nothing official has been agreed, but with two of Europe’s biggest powerhouses ready and waiting to pounce, Alonso will be in no rush to decide his future — especially when his current club are on the verge of winning what would be their first-ever league title.
