Manchester City identify possible Ederson replacement as Brazilian’s future remains uncertain
Manchester City have yet to extend Ederson’s contract and have, therefore, started to look for possible replacements.
Ederson, 31, has just 18 months left on his contract but has yet to extend his terms.
The Brazilian’s future at the Etihad became uncertain in the summer when he was linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia’s Pro League.
Keen to make the 31-year-old one of the sports’ highest-paid players, City’s number one was a top target for Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad. A transfer failed to materialise though, forcing the South American to continue in the Premier League.
That could all change next summer though.
Man City looking to replace Ederson with Diogo Costa
With Saudi clubs showing no signs of ending their pursuit, City may have to turn their transfer attention to bringing in a replacement for their commanding shot-stopper.
And according to a recent report from Fichajes, the name at the top of Pep Guardiola’s list to replace Ederson is Portugal and Porto keeper Diogo Costa.

The 25-year-old has so far been a one-club man having joined Porto’s youth academy 14 years ago.
However, a change of scenery could be on the cards for the Portugal international as City eye a summer deal worth £63 million (€75 million).
Obviously a move for Costa will depend entirely on Ederson’s decision to quit and move to the Middle East, but having shown no signs of committing his future, it would be reasonable to assume the Brazilian’s days in England are numbered.
