Real Madrid rival Liverpool for transfer of PL star after Man United beat them to recent signing

Real Madrid are reportedly showing a strong interest in the potential transfer of Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo, who is also liked by Liverpool and Chelsea.

The talented Brazilian has impressed hugely during his time at Forest, and it’s little surprise to see that a host of top clubs are now potentially set to battle it out for his signature.

According to HITC, Real Madrid are doing their homework on Murillo at the moment as they step up their search for a new signing at centre-back, with other Premier League players also on their radar after they were beaten to the signing of Leny Yoro by Manchester United this summer.

The report names Arsenal’s William Saliba, Tottenham’s Cristian Romero and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite as other possible targets for Los Blancos in that area of the pitch, but one imagines Murillo could be a more realistic option than some of those.

Arsenal are surely not going to sell Saliba any time soon, while Romero is also a vitally important player for Spurs, with both players still tied down to relatively long-term contracts,

Murillo transfer: Will he make the move to Real Madrid or Liverpool?

Murillo would surely find it hard to turn down Real Madrid, but could Liverpool perhaps also make a successful pitch for his signature?

HITC claims the Reds have been interested in the 22-year-old for some time, and there’s no doubt that he could be given a key role at Anfield for many years to come, with the Merseyside giants likely to soon be in need of a long-term Virgil van Dijk successor.

Van Dijk is in the final year of his contract with Liverpool, and although he remains an important player for the club, he’s not getting any younger, so it could be a good idea to start thinking about who could be the next Van Dijk in the LFC defence.

Murillo seems an ideal option, but Real Madrid have that pulling power that so often makes them a force in such transfer battles, so this will be an interesting saga to keep an eye on in the months ahead.

Liverpool will perhaps look at the Yoro to Man Utd deal and hope that they can pull off a similar surprise in hijacking a move for a player who might initially show a preference towards moving to the Bernabeu.
