Aston Villa ace likely heading for the exit door in January amid key update

Aston Villa’s Keinan Davis will likely leave the club in January, thinks Gabby Agbonlahor, due to the new deal given to youngster Cameron Archer.

Davis has played just 11 minutes in Villa’s first team this season. Indeed, injuries kept him out for a decent period of the season before Steven Gerrard’s arrival at the club.

The absence of Davis has led to the insurgence of 20-year-old Cameron Archer. The youngster has scored four senior goals for Villa this season, including a bullet-header against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup in September.

Archer was recently rewarded with a new contract at the club. What’s more, club-legend Agbonlahor feels that will lead to more first-team appearances.

“Cameron Archer has done well when he’s been given a chance and has been rewarded with a deserved new contract. I’m sure he’ll be integrated into the first team and given an opportunity by Gerrard,” he told Football Insider.

That will have a negative impact on Davis’ game time. As such, Agbonlahor feels a loan is the best course of action for him going forwards.

“Keinan Davis hasn’t played a lot of football over the past few years and he needs to go out and play games. Gerrard will know that,” he said.

“I’m sure Keinan Davis is that one will go out on loan, get some games and come back.”

Indeed, a loan to the Championship may be on the cards, as Nottingham Forest are apparently interested in Davis.

A move to red-hot Forest seems a great option for the 23-year-old. The Reds have lost just one game since September, as such Davis would be afforded an opportunity in a side in top form.

Davis among potential Villa striker moves

Wesley Moraes is another Villa striker likely on the move again in January. His loan at Club Brugge has not quite panned out at all.

Indeed, the Brazilian has featured for Brugge for just 69 minutes this term.

With the loan at Brugge not reaping the benefits any of the parties hoped for, it is likely Wesley will be on the move once again come January.

A return to his home country of Brazil could be on the cards. Palmeiras have emerged as a side interested in acquiring Wesley’s services on loan.

Indeed, a successful loan period would be key for him to find his feet once again following a gruesome injury.
