Wheels fully in motion with Brentford transfer of talented Brazilian ‘imminent’
An update on Brentford’s pursuit of Gremio right-back Vanderson claims that the club have made contact, and a deal could well be done soon.
It was recently reported that Brentford were once again interested in Vanderson, following their unsuccessful pursuit in the summer. Furthermore, the decreased value of the Brazilian seemed to be favourable for the Bees.
A further update from Sport Witness, citing Gremio’s vice-president Denis Abrahao claims contact has now been made between the clubs.
“Vanderson, we actually received a proposal, which is being discussed with the club and his agent,” he said.
“We are waiting for them to define the business.”
Indeed, a deal for the Gremio star may be a simple one, given the Brazilian side’s relegation this season. What’s more, some Brazilian media are claiming the deal will be ‘imminent’.
As such, Brentford would be completing a deal for a top player. Indeed, Vanderson had five goal involvements in 30 games in the 2021 season.
Furthermore, an attacking full-back would fit well into Brentford’s formation. Indeed, Thomas Frank usually employs a 3-5-2 formation, giving wide players licence to get forward.
The report states Brentford are expected to spend around €14million on Vanderson, including performance bonuses.
Indeed, it seems a good deal for the Bees to bring in such a talented competitor. Despite previous reported interest from other Premier League sides, it appears Brentford are in the clear regarding the deal.
Bees preparing contract for key man
Meanwhile, the Bees are set to open contract talks with Rico Henry, we can exclusively reveal.
The left-back has been at the club since 2016, and has been a key player during their current Premier League campaign.
Henry is only under contract for another 18 months. As such, the Bees will want to tie him down soon to avoid the risk of him moving on to another side.
Indeed, the new contract will be important, as Henry’s impressive performances of late have warranted interest from England boss Gareth Southgate.
What’s more, Brentford will want to show Henry that he is a valued member of the squad.
