West Ham fail with cheeky offer for Real Madrid man Ancelotti wants out
West Ham have failed with a shock bid for former Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard, according to a report in Spain.
Hazard is understood to be surplus to requirements at Real Madrid after a nightmare spell at the Bernabeu. And the Hammers were prepared to bring to an end his torrid spell and bring him back to the Premier League.
According to El Nacional, West Ham have failed with a €25m approach for Hazard. It’s unclear from the report just when the cut-price offer was lodged, but Real value the player at €50m.
Whether or not David Moyes will return with another offer remains to be seen. It seems as though West Ham were testing the water for a player who has no future at Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti.
The outlet say “there is plenty of time” with the January transfer window around three weeks away.
What does seem clear is that Ancelotti has drawn a line under Hazard.
The 30-year-old moved to Real Madrid from the Blues in 2019 for €100m, which could rise to €146.1m due to add-ons. But his time in Spain has been a disaster. Plagued by injuries, he has failed to look like the player who was one of the best around in the Premier League.
He has scored just five times and has nine assists in 55 Los Blancos appearances.

Hazard up for grabs?
This season he has made just 12 appearances and has just one assist. And according to the Transfer Exchange Show, Madrid are ready to cut their losses.
That seems to fit with the latest from El Nacional, although the money that Real want for Hazard differs.
Real reportedly approached Chelsea about taking back Hazard for a cut-price fee of £23m. That is £20m short of the £43m fee that El Nacional is reporting.
Hazard is under contract until 2024 and any sort of loan move, with an option to buy, would surely be of interest to Madrid.
The forward’s wages will be a problem though. His reported £400,000 a week deal will put off plenty of suitors and Madrid may well have to strike a deal with paying part of his wages if they are to offload him.
