Shock transfer link sees Tottenham ponder move for West Ham talisman

Tottenham are pondering making a move for West Ham forward Michail Antonio in the January transfer window, according to a report.

Spurs have been linked with a number of players since the arrival of Antonio Conte. Most have been from Italy, with Spurs having obvious links to Serie A with new boss Conte and managing director of football Fabio Paratici. One of those links which continues to resurface is to Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.

Vlahovic has already turned down several offers from the Viola to stay. His current deal due to expire in June 2023.

And according to Firenze Viola journalist Enzo Bucchioni, Vlahovic has snubbed a new mega deal worth €7m per season.

The money that Spurs would have to pay is around €70m. That figure, which equates to £59m, would beat the current record of £54m which Tanguy Ndombele was signed for.

Spurs though have other targets and should they baulk at breaking their transfer record in January, then Antonio has been touted as an option.

Transfer pundit Ekrem Konur claims that Spurs are considering making a shock move for Antonio.

Antonio scored winner vs Spurs

The former Nottingham Forest man has played all but one game in the Premier League this season. He also scored a superb equaliser for Jamaica against the United States on Tuesday.

Antonio signed a new contract at West Ham in December to keep him at the club until 2023. He is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League with 52 goals.

He is regarded as one of the club’s best ever signings having arrived for around £7m from the City Ground in September 2015.

Just how much Spurs are prepared to pay for Antonio is unclear, but the Hammers will be desperate to keep hold of the London-born attacker.

Antonio scored the winner against Spurs last month in one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s final games in charge. Of course Conte was not at the helm then, but Paratici is sure to know all about the powerful striker.
