Chelsea attacker ‘definitely’ wants exit, as German giants plot monstrous pairing

Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech ‘definitely’ wants to leave the club in January and is being eyed by a Bundesliga giant, according to reports.

Ziyech came through the ranks at Dutch outfit Heerenveen before joining FC Twente in 2014. He scored 34 goals in just 76 games to earn a move to Ajax in 2016.

The Moroccan became an integral player as Ajax reached the Champions League semi-final in 2018-19. He was snapped up by Chelsea in July last year as the Blues paid £33.3million for his services.

Ziyech has shown glimpses of his talent but has never been able to nail down a regular starting spot. He is competing with the likes of Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic for a place in the team.

The 28-year-old recently said he was ‘disappointed’ when Frank Lampard was sacked in January. Thomas Tuchel has been less accommodating when giving Ziyech game time to impress.

Sport Witness, citing reports in the German media, now provide a report on the star’s future. They state that he is ‘definitely’ hoping to leave Chelsea to become a key player elsewhere.

He believes he should be appearing on a regular basis for a Champions League club, rather than warming the bench. And it looks like one team is on hand to snap him up this winter.

Borussia Dortmund are keeping tabs on Ziyech, while also putting him on their wish list. They want the Dutch-born ace to swing in crosses for Erling Haaland, once the striker returns from a hip injury.

Such a partnership could see Haaland add even more threat to his game. The Norwegian has got nine goals in just six league games so far this campaign.

Dortmund boss Marco Rose will sit down with transfer consultant Matthias Sammer in December to discuss January targets. Ziyech is a ‘candidate’ and could end up being the subject of a bid from the German side.

Chelsea’s willingness to sell remains to be seen. They may wish to give Ziyech a few more opportunities in the Premier League before allowing him to leave.

Former Chelsea man open to Liverpool switch

Meanwhile, former Chelsea goalscorer Olivier Giroud says he would be open to joining Liverpool.

The target man hit 39 goals for Chelsea in all competitions before leaving earlier this year. Italian giants AC Milan signed him for just €1m.

When asked about Jurgen Klopp’s side, Giroud said: “Well, them to me? I don’t think so, but I have to say that Liverpool have an amazing stadium and amazing fans. What player wouldn’t want to play for them?

“They became European Champions League winners, they won the league and they have a great manager.”
